Crystal Chaos is a space arcade game. The main goal as with most games is to get as many points as possible. You aquire points by collecting crystals and even more point by collecting the large crystals which occasionally pop in and bounce around. When you have collected all the small crystals on a level, you are then permitted to exit that level through the portal. If you do this quickly enough you will get a time bonus. Except for these crystals and red/green/blue bombs, everything else on the screen is to be avoided. You can also collect bombs. Even though no points are awarded for collecting these, they can be very useful. If there are to many enemies on the screen then you can detonate a bomb which will either stun them (green bomb), slow them down (blue bomb) or kill them (red bomb).There are several different types of enemies and mines. Some of these enemies can only be destroyed with bombs. Every 5000 points you get an extra life.
The settings are only controlled by an .ini file which is located in the root directory of the game. These settings are for Music, Sound, Windowed, Color and Mouse Sensitivity. The file 'readme.htm' also in the root directory contains a very good and simple explanation of how to edit 'settings.ini'. Even though there is a setting to turn music on and off, I never heard any. Two other drawbacks of Crystal Chaos are: 1. There is no way to pause the game and 2. Whenever you start the game, you must always start from the first level. High scores are saved and displayed in the title screen.
Controls:
Mouse = Movement
Left Mouse Button = Fire Cannon
Right Mouse Button = Select Bomb Type
Space = Detonate Selected Bomb
Esc = Exit Game
Crystal Chaos is a good arcade game and if you like space type of games, you might want to give this one a try.
