One Must Fall: 2097 is a 1-2 player fighting game with tournament mode and great gameplay/effects. This game was formerly commercial and was released as freeware.about 3 years ago. The graphics are a little bit coarse but everything else is top notch. For two player mode you and a buddy can play head to head or by wire using a modem, network or serial port. You can choose your `pilot` and competitor with each having different strengths and weaknesses. System settings (such as control, video options, game speed, and volume) can be changed before the game or even in the middle of a match. Some of the game arenas have "hazards" that can damage your robot. These might be airplanes shooting at you and your opponent, spikes poping out of the wall or several other threats to dodge. OMF 2097 allows for recording and playback of individual matches as a command
line option.
Controls:
keyboard or joystick/keypad
The basic keyboard controls for single player mode are listed below, but a joystick or keypad can be used too. The controls can also be reconfigured. Various other moves can be performed with these keys using various combinations, some of which are documented and some hidden.
Numeric Keypad = movement
Enter = punch
Right Shift = kick
ESC = arena menu (settings)
P = pause
ALT-C = Chat
OMF 2097 is a great game for DOS or even WinXP using a DOS emulator such as DOS Box.
