Death Worm is a fast-paced game where you play a worm that jumps out of the ground and eats people, birds, and other animals. As your worm attracts attention, soldiers and other enemies will come to defend the area.
The graphics are original and get the job done. There are some nice particle effects when the worm eats things and takes damage, and the entire screen shakes each time the worm breaks the surface. The sound effects and music accompany the game well, although the music gets repetitive pretty fast. Luckily, there is an option to turn it off.
Death Worm really excels in gameplay. The controls are responsive and versatile, and there is a real thrill every time the worm jumps out of the ground and smashes down on top of elephants and such. There are also rocks lying around that can be propelled into the air and serve as a nice additional feature. The progression of enemies is paced so that the game can be played for a couple of minutes before becoming formidably difficult.
Death Worm is a great little game with a unique concept. Don't expect a lot of depth or complexity, but anticipate having a good time playing the game.
Controls:
Left and Right = Steer the worm
Up = Hold to move faster
Enter = Pause game
M = Turn music on/off
L = Turn lens flare feature on/off
Delete = Delete high scores
F5 = Save
F6 = Load
R = Restart
F = Show FPS
S = Show worm size
Q = Turn screen shaking feature on/off
